Women prefer rich men over poor men when it comes to getting married.
True False

Okay, okay, I know that sounds horrible, but hear me out. The only reason I said True was because I've never heard a woman ever say, "I dream of marrying a handsome, poor man." And, let's be honest, rich men do, by default, have a sort of appeal. Of course, everything else about them could be absolutely atrocious, but people still like money, so, if nothing else, a sexist slob with ten million dollars is going to be a nicer mental image than a sexist slob who lives in a trailer, because at least the former will be wearing a designer suit.

Look, all I'm saying is, single women probably fantasize about marrying a wealthy, important man before marrying someone with no money. Not to say that they wouldn't marry a man just because he is rich, but I mean, c'mon.

Ghosts do not exist.
True False

THEY DO EXIST. I'VE SEEN THEM.

Alright, so. In my Connecticut home, we had a lot of renovation done when we first bought it. Like, I think it was every single room had something done to it, but whatever. So I'm standing in the attic one afternoon with my sister, and in one of the rooms up there, there are these teeny, child-sized footprints in the dust on the floor, imprinted amongst those of the construction boots. But like, there were only about five footprints in the middle of the floor, and then they just stopped. And that was it.

So my sister and I thought that was kind of strange, but didn't think too much of it. But then, a few weeks later, I'm trying to fall asleep, and, with my eyes half-closed, look towards my open closet door across from me. And for little more than a second, I see this white silhouette of what looks like a little boy. I blink a few times and it disappears. That's about when I started getting a little worried.

The next thing was totally weird. I'm downstairs at about 1 a.m. playing Tomb Raider on the PS2 while everyone is sleeping. Now, a side note: the house, though only built in the 30s, is probably the squeakiest home you'll ever encounter. You can't breathe too loudly without some floorboards shifting. And, during the first summer there, we had very little furniture so every room echoed like crazy, and you could hear someone whispering from a different level of the house.

So, anyway, I'm playing the game, and then out of nowhere I hear, from the kitchen (which is two rooms over,) silver wear clinking and chairs moving across the floor. I called out a few times to the point that I was screaming, "HELLO? WHO'S DOWN HERE?" because I so wanted to believe that it was my Dad or someone. But I kind of already knew it couldn't be anyone, since the staircase was right next to the family room, and, as I've said, everything makes noise, so I would have heard. Plus, if I was screaming like I was screaming and still no answer? Couldn't be anyone upstairs. And then, all of the sudden, everything stops and there is no more noise or movement. And I was terrified, so I ran upstairs and went to bed, ha.

Of course I asked everyone the next morning if they had been downstairs, or if they had heard me yelling, to which everyone replied "no." (And they--my Dad, Mom, and sister--are all light sleepers).

But the scariest thing was this.

I'm lying in bed one night, a few weeks later, and I'm in that awkward state of my mind drifting off and my body shutting down before I'm officially asleep. And all of the sudden I feel an odd pressure on my legs. I figured it was just them falling asleep or getting numb, so I moved them around a bit, and then settled back down. And a few seconds later, I felt the same pressure. A little more nervous now, I shifted again, and rested again. And then the pressure came back, more intense. Now, I'm not one to normally be afraid of things like this, but I was dead scared. I'm not sure why I thought to speak, but I did, and I said, "Please get off of me."

AND THE PRESSURE LET UP INSTANTLY.

It was the scariest thing ever.

But since then, no weird ghost things have ever happened. Except for, this one time, my sister Olivia and her friends put her video camera in the attic for about fifteen minutes and just let it record. When we watched it over, we saw a light brightening and dimming from under the crack of a door, the only light source in the room being sunlight (and the way it was dimming was more like, you know... a dimmer on a light switch, not the sun. Plus, it was periodically, so it couldn't have been clouds, right?) And, there was a weird kind of slow huffing noise, almost. But then the noise went from, "huuuuh... huuuuh... huuuuh..." to "CHRAAAAAAAAHHHH" and we all screamed and promptly deleted the video.

Other than that, though, nothing has happened since.

But, case in point; ghosts exist.

That's really weird. I always thought ghosts existed but I never actually heard a story firsthand. I just think there are too many personal experiences people have had to think they are all fake. Especially when there are videos of ghost activity. I saw one once of these people in a weird abandoned hospital in Kentucky. They were in the old children's wing and there was a ball sitting there. They touched it and it rolled away, then started rolling around and playing with them. Really creepy.

Uh...a lot of interesting points here. As bad as it may sound the rich vs. poor man is actually true. Not that a woman would marry based on money...just that she wouldn't hate being married to someone extremely rich:)

As for the ghost thing. I really don't know if I believe in ghosts. The media over exploits the idea that ghosts exist, so it kind of becomes a farce. But I believe that people can have supernatural experiences and there has got to be some reason for it. That is really scary about your house though. I would be sooooo scared.

Dear Isabel,

I agree one hundred percent with you when you say that women prefer to marry rich men over poor men. I also blogged on the topic of rich vs. poor men so you should check it out! I know people say that money isn't everything, but to be quite honest, I think that's a bunch of garbage. I'm positive that wealth plays SOME factor when women are considering marriage.

On a completely different note, I got chills when I read your ghost story. Until I read your blog, ghosts had never really been on my mind because I did not believe in their existence. However, now I'm not so sure. I looked up some videos on youtube of ghosts and I found some pretty freaky videos that you might want to check out. One things for sure...I'm going to be having nightmares for a while.

woahh..
you're story kinda freaked me out a little bit. My mom is really into those paranormal shows on t.v., so I sometimes watch them with her, but I never actually believed that any of it was really happening. Now, knowing that someone I know has had encounters with ghosts, I'm not so sure that I'll be able to watch them anymore without getting scared (because I'm a baby when it comes to scary stories). Anyway, about your rich vs. poor subject, I also agree. I think that many women would love to be someone who loves them for who they are, but the thought of someone with more money is more appealing. I don't think that all women are that way, but I think, even if it's subconsciously, that wealth plays a factor in relationships.
