So, last night was my first time driving sans parental supervision. Oh, the exquisite freedom. No more parental excoriating on how many hands I keep on the wheel, or how I make my left turns. Bliss.
My mother told me that I was absolutely forbidden from playing music while I was driving. But, see, she wasn't there so how would she have known? As soon as I was down the street, Carlie and I blasted SlagsmÄlsklubben. Then we cruised for half an hour. Then, after I dropped her off and got Lucas, we drove into Rivervale, even though I told my parents I'd stay in the back streets of Hillsdale. Gosh, I'm such a maverick. I'd make Parah Salin proud.
My parents keep laying down ground rules, though. Their fears will never be allayed, alas. But my very clean record as a young teenager has left my parents somewhat credulous to my little lies. Clearly I'm not a liar on a normal basis, but... c'mon, if I want to play music while I drive, I can, right?
Tonight I hope to take Ginny out, but that might not be possible since I have a track meet (that will presumably last until, oh... 8 or 9? Or later?) and then I have lovely homework to worry about. So, we shall see.
