So, our ephemeral winter break came and went. The almost-two weeks were filled with ennui that was more than welcome, and hardly saturnine. I spent the first five days at my home in Connecticut. The rest of the break was spent driving around and seeing friends. I, of course, saved all of my homework for the night before break ended. But, overall, I had a nice break. I had no invidious experiences, and the crux of my time off was when it ended. Not only did I have to go back to sitting in a desk all day, but I had to listen to everyone talking about winter ball.
I didn't go to winter ball. I sort of wanted to, though. The idea of dressing up and going to a dance is alluring, definitely. But, the thing is, I did not have a date. I wasn't even asked, boo. And that can be quite crushing to a girl's self esteem (and when your friends hector you about being a ~nonconformist~ it kind of ends up turning you off even more to such a social event. Plus, I don't think I could stand to coalesce with the many people in the junior and senior classes that I do not, on a daily basis, enjoy being with.) So, no winter ball for Isabel!
I did have a good time last night, though. I hung out with some other anti-social friends of mine, and we played games on the Wii and ate food. And no awkward dancing was necessary.
